Where is my energy going?
We are energy. We are nothing but energy. As energy, we are either adding to our energetic levels or we are depleting them. Energy is our life force. Energy is our fuel for our whole self, mind, body and spirit. It is what allows us to be creative, to heal, to foster new and expanding ideas and dreams. It is our drive, our vitality, our zest for living. With so much going on in our world, the economy, banking, health, jobs, stress, lack of security or stability, it seems like everyone’s energy is just leaking ALL away. How we view the world, whether we feel connected to everyone or separate, whether we view life as full of problems and difficulties to deal with or see solutions, opportunities and adventures is a sign of our energetic level of being. Our view, our perspective, our feelings readily indicate to us where we are at energetically. Current times have everyone at an all time low, more so than ever imagined. While I have a lot to say and offer on this subject, for now, I would just like to share some basic techniques and strategies for you to be able to observe and discern where your energy level may be at.
First, take a moment to “step back” our of your critiquing mode and place yourself in an observer mode. Observer mode is where you pay attention to what you are doing, and not judging it good or bad, or getting caught up in the why you are doing it or the how….just simply observing your thoughts, attitude, reactions and words. See what you are hearing yourself say to others as well as what you are saying to yourself inside your mind. When we do this, it can be quite eye-opening. Perhaps you may even jot down some comments or trends that you see yourself exhibiting. One client of mine noticed, for the first time, how negative they were about themselves. He found that he was always hearing himself in his head, that he couldn’t or shouldn’t do…whatever it is he really wanted to do.
Second, notice what feelings accompanying the words or thoughts you are experiencing. Notice how one thought or word can take you up or down on the emotional scale…sorta speak. How long are you spending on the down end of the scale? How much time are you spending on the “up” end of the emotional scale”? Are you finding that what others say to you dramatically effect your emotional scale? Or perhaps, you may find that you don’t’ budge either way. This can be common too. Some people may feel a little indifferent about things or just kinds numb….and not realize it. It is always easy to settle into a certain way of being…and not realize it. And to not know that it may be a place that you don’t want to be at all….but you have acclimated to it or may just resigned to it. It is important to know that you can always affect your energy positively. You do NOT have to react to others thoughts, actions, opinions or words. For now, focus on within you. Listen in. Be Still. Don’t judge. Be like a concerned and observant parent watching a young child at play. Just see what is happening, what patterns of thoughts or actions begin to appear. Just notice….for now.
